Pondy teachers begin indefinite fast

Puducherry, Nov 3 (UNI) Four office-bearers of the Joint Action Committee of Teachers Association here today began an indefinite fast near the statue of Nehru on the beach to press their demands.

Led by Mr Nedumchezhiyan,they were demanding the immediate implementation of the VI Pay Commission recommendations and assured career progression (ACP) for teachers.

The committee had threatened to go on an indefinite strike from November 15 while the Teachers Association affilitated to the Puducherry State Government Employees Central Federation would strike work indefinitely from November 5.
