Highway blockade affects life in Manipur

Imphal, Nov 3 (UNI) Traffic on NH 39 was affected for the second day today due to an economic blockade called by the Senapati District Students' Association (SDSA) to protest the pathetic condition of the highway.

No vehicles carrying goods were allowed to move on the highway.

However, normal vehicles carrying passengers were not disturbed, as trucks were the main target.

For the last two years the students had been demanding maintenance of the highway. Despite assurance by the government nothing substantial was done.

No untoward incident has been reported so far.
