EC likely to lift ban on Bhamashah Empowerment Scheme: BJP
Jaipur, Nov 3(UNI) The BJP today hoped that the Election Commission will soon vacate its stay on implementation of the Rajasthan Government's Rs 850 crore Bhamashah Women Empowerment Scheme.
Talking to UNI here, Party Spokesman Prakash Javadekar said the stay was likely to be vacated by the Commission in the next few days.
Mr Javadekar said such development schemes aimed at welfare of poor people could not be stalled by the Commission.
The Election Commission had stayed the implementation of the scheme in view of the upcoming Assembly elections in the state.
The ruling BJP, during its interaction with the commission here on Friday, had demanded reconsideration on its stay on the scheme.
Chief Election Commissioner N Gopalaswami said after the meeting with representatives of political parties, that the commission would examine the demand.
