City court grants bail to Abdul Rehman in Jamia Nagar encounter
New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) A local court today granted bail to Abdul Rehman, the caretaker of L18, Batla house, where the September 19 Jamia Nagar encounter took place between alleged terrorists and police, in which Delhi Police Inspector Mohan Chand Sharma died.
Investigation Officer submitted before the court that chargesheet in the case was almost complete and would be filed within 4-5 days.
According to the prosecution, Abdul Rehman, who worked in PWD in Ghaziabad, had forged the signature on a lease agreement and used a forged duplicate rubber stamp of Jamia Nagar Police Station on the police verification form.
Defence Counsel argued that Rehman, 57, has already been interrogated and was no more required for investigation.
Additional Sessions Judge Madam Pinky, after hearing arguments of both the sides, granted bail to the accused and ordered furnishing of bond of Rs 20,000 and two local sureties of like amount, subject to further condition that he would not leave country without the prior permission from the court.
