Bharti open for global acquisitions to reap lower valuations
New Delhi, Nov 3 (UNI) Bharti Airtel Chairman and Managing Director Sunil Bharti Mittal today said his company is open for global acquisitions of telecom assets with a view to reaping benefits of lower valuation due to the global meltdown.
He, however, declined to name any company in this regard.
''There are plans, but there is no immediate target,'' Mr Mittal told reporters here.
Earlier this year, Bharti was in talks with South Africa's MTN about a possible strategic alliance, but the deal did not come through.
With 77.5 million mobile users, Bharti, the country's leading mobile operator provides fixed-line, broadband and direct-to-home satellite television services.
