HP Govt to spend Rs 600 crore on drinking water, irrigation
Hamirpur, Nov 2 (UNI) Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal said Rs 632 crore would be spent on providing drinking water and irrigation facilities during the current financial year.
Addressing a public meeting at Ukhil Mair in the district, he said a Rs 10 crore Hotel Management Institute would be set up in Sasan (Hamirpur) and Rs 6 crore will be spent on the Food Craft Institute being set up in Dharamsala.
The chief minister dedeicated two water works schemes to the people of the area.
Prof Dhumal pointed out that Rs 141 crore worth of subsidies on essential commodities were being provided by the State Government to the ration card holders.
He said that the State Government had been endeavouring to deliver best of services to the public with commitment of transparency. He said that the IPH department had set up a complaint cell which registers complaints of all villages within its jurisdiction and provides relief within 24 hours.
Prof Dhumal said that another survey of the hydel potential from Mandi to Hamripur will be carried out again and fresh DPRs prepared of the unexploited hydel potential would be prepared. He said that all the damaged roads were being repaired on a priority bases.
He said that the State suffered a loss of Rs 2076 crore due to rains this year but so far not a penny had come from the Centre as assistance. He said that the peoples' cooperation was mandatory in completion of all developmental projects.
He announced that Rs 7 lakh would be spent on GMS Ukhli Mair building and playground.
He said that 2000 handpumps were being bored in the state out of which 77 had been bored in district Hamirpur during current financial year. He said that efforts would be made to achieve the target well within the current financial year.
He said that with the opening of Chief Engineer, Irrigation and Public Health (IPH) Office in Hamirpur, all IPH activities had been given a momentum in the district. He said that Rs 5.30 crore were being spent in Mewa under B&R activities.
The Chief Minister was presented a draft of Rs 5100 by Sushil Thakur, Panchayat Samiti Member as contribution towards Chief Ministers Relief Fund.
