High-level committee to probe into Salboni blasts

Kolkata, Nov 02 (UNI) A high-level enquiry has been ordered to probe into the landmine explosion at Salboni targeting the convoys of West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhatacharjee and Union Steel Minister Ramvilas Paswan, Home Secretary Ashok Mohan Chakraborty said tonight.

Mr Chakraborty said the committee would be headed by the Director General of Police.

He added that though according to the police report, Maoists attacked the convoys of the VVIPs through Improvised Explosive device (IED), the enquiry committee would investigate the entire episode.

He said the six police personnel, who received injury in the explosion, were being brought to the AMRI hospital here.

The CPI (M) has decided to observe ''condemnation day'' in protest against the incident tomorrow throughout the state.
