AP Minister chairs meeting on knowledge city project

Hyderabad, Nov 2 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Energy, Coal and Minorities Welfare Minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir today chaired a meeting on Knowledge City project at Aloor, Chevella mandal in Ranga Reddy district with Muslim Legislators and higher officials of Andhra Pradesh Industrial Infrastructure Corporation (APIIC) and Minorities Welfare Officers.

The minister asked the Wakf Board officials to convene a meeting of prominent religious scholars of Muslim community tomorrow to elicit their opinion on the proposed project. Only after their consensus the government would move forward to take up the proposal, an official release here said.

Vice-Chairman and Managing Director of APIIC B P Acharya informed the minister that the APIIC would acquire the lands after clearance of the proposals by religious scholars.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between APIIC and AP Wakf Board would also be signed incorporating all conditions.

The APIIC would pay Rs 3 lakh per acre to the encroachers and Rs 2 lakh to the Wakf Board, the release added.

The minister informed the meeting that the government was intending to develop the Wakf land as a role model for Wakf properties in the country and the amount received would be utilized for the overall development of the minority community.
