Sukhbir Badal under political fire over poll-time "modelling" wish
New Delhi, Nov 1 (UNI) Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) chief Sukhbir Singh Badal has come under fierce attack from Sikh religious leaders over his remarks that he would like to become a brand ambassador of a leading cola brand.
In stinging comments, the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Managment Committee (DSGMC) termed Mr Badal's interview to a national daily a reflection of a flippant mindset.
"Mr Badal and his party have given up their Sikh credentials completely and are now an extended arm of the RSS. Their ally L K Advani openly justified Operation Blue Star in his book. All Akali MPs, except for one, voted against a Sikh prime minister in the trust vote of July and now their leader wants to do modelling.
Nothing could be worse than this for the future of Punjab," he said.
The DSGMC, according to committee sources, will be launching a massive campaign against the SAD over all these issues ahead of assembly elections in Delhi.
Mr Sarna challenged the party's Delhi unit chief Manjit Singh to defend his "boss Sukhbir" in the coming elections.
