Rs 25 crore fund for the development of Kannada langauage
Bangalore, Nov 1 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa today announced an annual fund of Rs 25 crore for the development of Kannada in the wake of the language getting a classical status.
Mr Yeddyurappa, taking part in the Rajyotsava Day programme here, said the government would also allocate Rs two crore to all the universities in the state for taking up research work on Kannada language.
The state government would also provide funds to the universities from outside the state if they came with such programmes, he said adding students who complete IAS exam in Kannada language would be rewarded with a cash prize of Rs 50,000.
Stating that he would not allow the separatist movement in the state for dividing it on the bases of regional imbalances, he said he would convene a meeting of the leaders for taking a delegation to the Centre.
