Fast agitation nearly leads to clash
Puducherry, Nov 1 (UNI) Tension prevailed at Murungambakkam area near here following an altercation between some Tamil organisations and the Youth Congress today.
According to police, some Tamil organisations were on a fast to condemn the killing of the Tamils in Sri Lanka during which the speakers at the fast reportedly criticised AICC President Mrs Sonia Gandhi. Objecting to this, Youth Congress volunteers led by it's President Mr Pandian came to the venue of the fast and entered into a wordy duel with the agitators. When a clash nearly ensued police intervened and pacified both sections. In the melee, the shamiana put up for the fast was pulled down.
The Youth Congress volunteers later resorted to a road blockade in the area and were arrested by the police.
