Court extends Guj VHP Jt Secy's police remand till Nov 4
Gandhinagar, Nov 1 (UNI) A local court today extended the police remand of Gujarat Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) Joint Secretary Ashwin Patel by another three days till November four.
Mr Patel had allegedly circulated anti-government and anti-Modi SMSes from his mobile number 9979148939 during the last state assembly elections held in December 2007.
Justice Mirza, after hearing arguments of both the sides, extended police remand of Mr Patel till November 4. Police had demanded for five days remand.
Mr Patel was arrested by Gandhinagar Crime Branch on October 28.
The accused has been charged of sedition, defamation and inflaming communal passion, the investigating office Inspector P P Bhatt said.
Mr Patel procured the SIM card, used for sending the SMSes, by submitting forged documents. Therefore, he has also been charged for forgery, Mr Bhatt added.
