Bihar armed police jawan dies in accidental grenade blast
Samastipur, Nov 1 (UNI) A Bihar armed police jawan was killed today when a hand grenade, seized from the Maoist guerillas earlier, suddenly went off at a remote police outpost at Halsi in the district.
Police said the accident occurred when the victim - Sushil Kumar Singh -- was handling the seized grenade.
The jawan, who sustained serious wounds and was bleeding profusely, succumed to his injuries on way to hospital, police added.
Senior district police officials had rushed to the outpost and probe was on.
The outpost jawans seized a number of grenades following a raid at a Maoist hideout in the area a few days ago and kept them at a safe place before despatching them to higher authorities.
