ACB nets sub-registrar official
Hyderabad, Nov 1 (UNI) ACB sleuths today arrested a sub-registrar official when he accepted Rs 2,500 as bribe for issuing certified copies of documents required by a complainant.
Police said P Pandu Ranga Raju, Senior Assistant, Sub-Registrar office of Toopran mandal in Medak district, would be produced before the Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases in Hyderabad, a press release said here.
Meanwhile, the state government ordered permanent withholding of pension and gratuity in full of a former Junior Assistant in the office of Mallial Mandal Revenue Office following his conviction in a bribe case.
The accused D Pullaiah was trapped by ACB officials on September 16, 1998 when he accepted Rs 1,000 as bribe from a complainant for doing an official favour.
In another case, Bhimadole Gram panchayat Secretary M Ramachandra Rao was sentenced to one-year imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 1,000, under section seven of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988, by a Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Vijayawada.
