500 kg explosives seized in naxal-hit UP district

Sonebhadra, Nov 1 (UNI) Police today seized 500 kg explosives after the arrest of two persons from Choppan colony of this naxal-affected district in Uttar Pradesh.

On a tip-off, police cordoned ofF the area and nailed down Dilip Bharti and Javed Ahmad.

The seizure comprised ammonium nitrate, detonators and other explosive materials, police said.

Meanwhile, the recovery of the large number of explosives soon after the ghastly terror strikes in Assam has alerted the UP police.

Mirzapur and Chandauli are two other naxal-infested districts in the state.

Earlier on October 30, police had seized 50 kg explosives in Balrampur district and apprehended two persons in the connection.
