UN discussing modalities with Pak for Benazir killing probe
New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) The United Nations is ready to provide assistance to Pakistan in investigating the assassination of former Prime Minister and PPP leader Benazir Bhutto and is discussing modalities for the probe, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon said here today.
Wrapping up his two-day official visit to India, Mr Ban said at a press conference that some more time was needed to finalise the modalities of the investigations.
He said he had held discussions with the Pakistani authorities and the country's President Asif Ali Zardari on the subject.
''The United Nations is ready to provide assistance in finding out (who was responsible for the assassination). We are discussing about modalities, scope and financial aspect. We need some more time to finalise,'' the Secretary-General said in response to a question.
