Tribes forced out of their homes-Prabhu
Madikeri, Oct 31(UNI) The government machinery and environmentalists harrassing the tribal communities to shift from their homes has been on the rise, National Tribal Movement Chief and Supreme Court advocate Pradeep Prabhu has said.
Mr Prabhu speaking at Tribal Convention-2008 organized by the Kodagu Tribal Association at Kushalnagar said that on the pretext of making the forest areas into the National Parks across the country, the government had already made 30,000 tribes lose their identity.
He said that the time had come for the tribals to fight unitedly to safeguard their inhabitants.
The tribes, who are original inhabitants of forest bounded area since more than 150 years are now being pressurised by the Government machineries to vacate their dwelling places.
The history reveals the nature friendly attitude of the tribes who have been living with the nature and the wild animals without disturbing the environmental atmosphere, he said.
