Sonia to leave for Bhutan King's coronation ceremony

Siliguri, Oct 31 (UNI) UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi is scheduled to leave for Bhutan tomorrow on a nine-day tour to attend the coronation ceremony of Bhutan's new King Jigme Khesar Wangchuck in the first week of November, official sources today.

Informing this, sources today said Ms Gandhi would arrive Hashimara airbase and then proceed to Bhutan on road.

District Magistrate (Jalpaiguri) Bandana Yadav informed that Ms Gandhi was scheduled to visit Bhutan in the first week of November and a special protection group had already arrived Jalpaiguri, in this regard.

Security would be beefed up at the Indo-Bhutan border, in the wake of serial blasts in Assam, Ms Yadav informed.

A meeting would be held tomorrow between the border security officials of the countries, Divisional Commissioner (Jalpaiguri) B L Meena said.
