Kalamandalam awards announced

Thrissur, Oct 31(UNI) Madavoor Vasudevan Nair has been selected for the Kerala Kalamandalam Deemed University fellowship for the year 2007.

The fellowship carries a purse of Rs 20,000, a plaque, citation and shawl.

Mr K S Divakaran Nair, Kottakkal Chandrashekharan, Mathur Govindan Kutty were awarded the 'Kalaratnam', 'Kalamandalam', 'Kadhakalivesham' titles by the University.

Kalamandalam Thankamanikutty, Ammannur Kuttan Chakkiyar, Kalamandalam Eswara Warrier and Kuttamath Janardhan were recognised for their excellence in 'Mohiniyattom', 'Koodiyattom', 'Madhalam' and 'Thullal'.

Killimangalam Vasudevan Namboodiripad and Kalamandalam M P S Namboodiri had been jointly selected for authoring the best book, ' Kadhakaliyude Ranga Pada Charitram'.

The awards were announced by University Vice-Chancellor K G Paulose here today.
