ISRO Chairman briefs PM on Chandrayaan-I launch
New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman G Madhavan Nair today briefed Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on the successful launch of Chandrayaan-1, India's first unmanned scientific mission to the moon.
The Prime Minister was also briefed on the launch sequence and subsequent manoeuvering of the spacecraft to reach the final lunar orbit, an official release said.
The health of the spacecraft is good and all operations so far have been implemented as planned, Dr Nair said.
The Prime Minister expressed happiness over achieving a significant milestone in Indian Space Programmme and congratulated the ISRO Chairman and his entire team for the successful mission.
Dr Nair presented to the Prime Minister models of Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle (PSLV) C-11 and Chandrayaan-1.
Dr Singh was also shown the image of earth captured by Terrain Mapper Camera (TMC) from an altitude of 70,000 km.
