Farmer drowns in Polavaram canal

Kakinada, Oct 31 (UNI) A 20-year-old farmer drowned in Polavaram canal when he was washing his clothes at the bathing ghat at Bhavajipet village, yesterday evening.

His body was fished out today morning.

The deased was identified as Macharla Veera Venkata Satyanarayana, police said.

Police have registered a case.

In another incident, a 55-year-old fisherman was crushed to death when his towel and shirt were caught in the motor-belt while switching on the machine at a pond in Kadakuduru village under Pedapudi police station limits today.

The deceased was identified as Meka Venkatraju, police added.
