Delhi Govt officer sent in police custody in fraud case
New Delhi, Oct 31 (UNI) A city court today sent a senior officer of the Delhi Government in one-day police custody for alleged fraudulent purchase of materials for shelters run by the Social Welfare Department.
Additional Sessions Judge A S Yadav sent Sanjay Gihar, Joint Director with the Welfare Department of the Delhi Administration, who was arrested by the Anti-Corruption Branch of the Delhi Police for allegedly committing the fraud in 2005.
Two other officials, M J Dudu and P Anandrao, who were also arrested, were sent in judicial custody.
According to the prosecution, the modus used by these officials was of making the purchase through limited tenders by the use of fake quotations.
