Western Disturbances active in the region, rain, snow likely in J

Srinagar, Oct 30 (UNI) The Western Disturbances (WD) are active over the Kashmir valley where the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a forecast for rain or snow to occur at isolated places during the next 24 hours.

However, the IMD said the maximum temperature will be near normal while the night will be a bit warm.

A forecast issued by the IMD said the sky will remain partly cloudy though the day temperature will be around 19 degree Celsius.

However, it said, the night temperature will be six degree, which is two degree above normal.

Both day and night temperature in Srinagar were above normal today.

Official sources said the WD had entered through Afghanistan and Pakistan into the region. The WD are active, which could cause rain or snow on the upper reaches during the next 24 hours.

The night in Leh was cold after the temperature dipped in minus during the past one week.

The minimum temperature at Leh, which is going to polls in the first phase alongwith nine other assembly segments on November 17, was minus three degree.
