ULFA denies hand in blast, HuJi suspected
Guwahati, Oct 30 (UNI) The proscribed United Liberation Front of Asom (ULFA) today denied responsibility for today's serial blasts in the state capital and lower Assam.
In an email statement, the ULFA denied any involvement in the blasts and alleged that a section of the government officials deliberately blamed the outfit to derail the possible peace process.
However, Assam government spokesperson Himanta Biswa Sarma said the banned ULFA may have perpetrated the serial blasts in the state, but it was too early to reach a conclusion.
''It is very early to make a conclusion but ULFA has a history of triggering serial blasts,'' Mr Sarma told mediapersons minutes after the explosions.
Dr Sarma said the objective of triggering the blasts in crowded places was to claim more lives. ''Most of the bombs were planted in crowded places like markets and office complexes,'' he said.
However, a police officer, on condition of anonimity, said it was a HujI attack. ''The ULFA simply does not have the fire power to trigger such high intensity blasts,'' the police source said.
