Tamil Nadu: Plea for industrial estate in Karur

Karur, Tamil Nadu, Oct 30: Mahadanapuram V Rajaram,Working President of the Cauvery Delta Farmers' Welfare Association, urged Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M Karunanidhi to establish an industrial estate of the state-owned Small Industries Development Corporation (SIDCO) in Krishnarayapuram of the district.

In his memorandum to Mr Karunanidhi, a copy of which was made available to the press here today, Mr Rajaram said Krishnarayapuram was best suited for establishing the third industrial estate in the district as it was located on the Karur-Tiruchirapalli Highway besides having a broad gauge railway link.

It was a long-felt demand of the people of the area the government create employment opportunities as a large number of semi-skilled and unskilled workers were there in the region.
