All India Minority Front chairman condemns Assam blasts
New Delhi, Oct 30 : The All India Minority Front chairman, S. M. Asif, strongly condemned the serial blasts in Assam today and said all possible steps should be taken to maintain peace and bring the perpetrators of such acts to justice.
Terming the incidents as ''acts of cowardice'' by anti-national elements, Asif said that the law-enforcing agencies of the state should take immediate action to nab the culprits behind the blasts and to deal with the situation firmly.
He also said the government should take immediate precautionary security measures to prevent recurrence of such incidents.
He appealed to all political parties to extend their co-operation in this hour of crisis and appealed to the people of the state to remain on high alert and maintain calm.
Criticising the terror attack, in which 61 people were killed and over 300 injured, Asif said Assam and the North East areas had remained disturbed for last several years.
''Such barbaric acts targeting innocent men, women and children only highlight the desperation and cowardice of those responsible," said Asif.
He expressed confidence that the people of the country ''will rise unitedly against these attempts to disturb peace and harmony and to destroy our social fabric.''
The Front chief offered his condolences to the affected families and sympathies to the injured.
