Lawyer detained on charge of producing forged bail order

Kendrapara, Oct 30 (UNI) Police today detained a lawyer from Nischantakoili bazar on the charge of helping a crimnal to get bail in a local court by producing fake bail order of high court about one and half year back.

Police said Smruti Ranjan Rout, the advocate had helped one Ramakanta Parida alias Kalia to be released on bail after producing forged bail order of High court.

Parida was absconding since then.

Parida was facing trial in as many as twelve criminal cases in Kendrapara, Jagatsinghpur and Jajpur districts.

He was arrested by the Kendrapara police in May 2006 on the charge of vehicle lifting, burglary and dacoity.

A local court had bailed Kalia out last year based on the bail order of the High court which was later found to be forged.

After the forgery was known Police was asked to arrest the lawyer who misled the local court.
