Madikeri, Karnataka, Oct 30: The KSRTC, serving under Mangalore Division will change hands and get attached to Mysore Rural Circle.

The Mangalore Circle is losing Madikeri as the constituency for Member of Parliament had changed from Mangalore to Mysore.

This will come to effect from November one, according to government sources.

An officer concerned said the change was inevitable as the number of scheduled services from Mangalore was going to touch 1,000 a day and Mysore Rural had only 400 scheduled services.

As many as 525 employees of Kodagu KSRTC will now be transferred to Mysore from Mangalore.

There is also a proposal to start Kodagu Divisional Office in 2009. Meanwhile a depot would be started at Virajpet and the department is looking for land to set up the same at Kushalnagar.

The depot manager here, Mr Venugopal, said the Madikeri Depot had a target to achieve a revenue of Rs 2.87 crore in the month of October and would earn a profit of up to Rs 20 lakh.

Work of upgrading the Madikeri Bus Stand was on and a reservation counter at Kushalnagar Bus Stand will also be opened, he said.
