''Kissan Krishideepam'' bags South Asian award
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 30 (UNI) ''Kissan Krishideepam,'' an agricultural-based weekly television programme, has bagged the South Asian Manthan Award-2008 for the best e-content for development.
The award was jointly constituted by the Digital Empowerment Foundation, World Summit Award- Austria and Centre for E-governance, Government of India, according to an official release here today.
The project was selected for its best digital contents in agriculture and its multi-modal approach on e-education in the farming sector across Kerala.
This award was selected from 264 nominations from eight south Asian countries and selected by 20-member Jury through different levels of ranking. This was the only project from Kerala selected for this award.
The award was for the successful integration of various technologies like television, internet, telephone and mobile/SMS for delivering useful content and information to the farmers.
KISSAN-Kerala project, a leading project of the Department of Agriculture, has been successfully implemented and providing several useful information services to the farming community during the last five years.
''Kissan Krishideepam'' has completed 254 regular weeks of telecast through Asianet channel.
