Kerala opp. leader calls on CM on Chengara issue
Thiruvananthapuram, Oct 30 (UNI) Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly Oommen Chandy today called on Chief Minister V S Achuthanandan and urged him to take necessary measures to find an amicable solution to the year-long Chengara land struggle.
Talking to newspersons here after visiting the Chief Minister, he said this was his third meeting in this regard and he had offered some suggestions to find a solution to end the struggle.
The government should convene a meeting of the agitating people and reach a consensus in this regard, he added.
He said the Chief Minister informed him that he would convene a meeting after discussing the matter with Revenue and SC/ST ministers.
Claiming that he had raised issues like providing medical attention, food and water to the agitating people and educational facilities to their children in his meeting with the CM on September 26, Mr Chandy alleged that no decision had been taken so far.
