Highway robbers gang busted in Punjab

Kapurthala, Oct 30 (UNI) Kapurthala police today busted an inter-district gang of highway robbers, involved in 40 incidents of snatchings and robberies, with the arrest of its five members.

The police recovered three stolen motorcycles, seven mobiles, one country made pistol and one sword besides three purses and two wrist watches from their possession, Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Aggarwal said at a press conference here.

He said all the accused were illiterate and drug addicts and used to waylaid the passers-by on Kapurthala-Jalandhar and Kapurthala-Kala Singia road and snatch their vehicles and loot them.

They confessed to have committed more than 40 snatchings in Kapurthala and Jalandhar districts, the SSP said.
