Curfew in Bhainsa partially lifted, situation peaceful
Adilabad, Oct 30 (UNI) The curfew clamped at Bhainsa town in Adilabad district, following communal clashes during an immersion procession on October 10, was partially lifted today as the situation continued to be peaceful.
According to police, the curfew was lifted from 0600 hrs to 2200 hours and no fresh violence was reported during the relaxation period.
The authorities would lift the curfew totally in a few days, depending on the situation.
Units of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and local police continued to be deployed in strength in the narrow lanes and bylanes to maintain peace in the riot-torn town, police said.
Police remanded all the nine accused in the Vottoli incident in which six members of a family belonging to the minority community were burnt alive on October 12.
Nearly 30 cases were booked under various sections of the IPC.
As many as 249 people, identified as accused, have been taken in custody so far in connection with the communal violence in the town.
Three people were killed and 15 injured when violence broke out in the town during the immersion ceremony.
