Congress attacks Advani for his statement on Assam blasts
New Delhi, Oct 30 (UNI) The Congress today came down heavily on BJP leader L K Advani for his reported statement that the Bangladeshis might have been behind the serial blasts in Assam, and said a former home minister should be more responsible in his statement.
"This is not a responsible statement from a leader who was holding the portfolio of Home in the Union Government for six years," AICC Spokesman Manish Tewari told mediapersons.
He said it was astonishing that Mr Advani had made the statement barely an hour after the blasts in Assam, when the investigating agencies had not come to any conclusion on who was behind the blasts.
Referring to BJP president Rajnath Singh's statement that Pragya Singh, who is accused of being involved in the Malegaon and Modasa blasts, was not a terrorist, Mr Tewari said it was for the first time that a top leader of a mainstream poltical party was defending a terrorist.
