World Bank to assist Madurai farmers

Madurai, Oct 29: World Bank has come forward to aid farmers in the sub-basins around Melur and Tirumangalam in the 'Integrated Agricultural Management of Water Resources and Marketing, better known as IAMWARM project, is all set to benefit 12,000 acres in the district.

The project is expected to increase the water capacity of tanks and will have forward and backward linkages for agricultural marketing. Collector SS Jawahar told sources that the aim of the project was to bring out higher productivity in the agricultural sector.
