Fresh air strikes by LTTE reported in Sri Lanka
Colombo, Oct 29: On Wedesday, Oct 28 the Sri Lankan Defence Ministery said that a light aircraft of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) launched fresh air attacks on a military camp in the Mannar and a power station in Colombo on Tuesday, Oct 27 night.
"LTTE aircraft dropped two bombs at the KelaniTissa power station in the outskirts of Colombo. However, an alert Sri Lankan Navy took cover and fired anti-aircraft guns in the sky to prevent any attack on the harbour. The blasts have caused minor damages to the premises", the Defence Ministry said in a report. Reports say that earlier LTTE had carried out an air strike at the Thallady military camp in North Western Mannar. LTTE carried out an air and ground attack on a military Establishment in the northern town of Vavuniya in September, killing 11 soldiers. Ten Tiger suicide commandos also died in the attack.
Defence Ministry said that thought no major damage was caused due to explosions in Mannar, a soldier has sustained injuries in the incident.
