Punjab approves IT action plan for state

Chandigarh, Oct 29 (UNI) Punjab Chief Secretary R I Singh has approved the action plan directed towards creation of an IT/ITeS enabling eco-system and attracting investment in the sector in the state.

The plan was approved on Monday after a meeting was held to officially review and approve the strategy and action plan framed by consultants Ernst and Young for promotion of IT/ITeS sector in the state, official sources said here today.

Those who attended the meeting were Dr S S Channy, Principal Secretary, Industry and Commerce and senior officials from Punjab Infotech, the nodal agency appointed by Punjab government for IT/ITeS sector promotion.

Following presentation of the draft plan by Ersnt and Young consultants, the Chief Secretary gave his approval.

The implementation exercise of the plan is to start from November 1.
