Markets open in green; Sensex up 140 points
Mumbai, Oct 29: As US Stocks ended sharply higher on Tuesday, Oct 28 sparked by gains in overseas markets on hopes of a US interest rate cut, Indian markets too opened higher on Wednesday, Oct 29.
National Stock Exchange's benchmark Nifty rose 44 points or 1.66 per cent to 2,729. Bombay Stock Exchange's 30-share Sensex gained 140 points to 9,148 from Muhurat trading/Tuesday close. BHEL, Bharti, ICICI Bank, Idea Cellular, Unitech, Wipro, ABB, Sterlite Industries, Hindalco, Tata Power, Ambuja Cements, HDFC and L&T are major gainers. However, ONGC, Nalco and GAIL are losers.
