Kolkata tea auction registers good demand
Kolkata, Oct 29 (UNI) The tea auction held here from October 20 to 21 registered overall good demand with fair support from local dealers.
A report issued by Kolkata Brokers' Joint Statistics Department said the CTC showed good demand, with local and North Indian dealers lending good support. It added that 78,524 packages worth 2,428,314 kg were sold. The major blenders were active on Assam, and selective on Dooars, it noted.
Darjeeling also registered good demand with a sale of 8,383 packages worth 197,339 kg, with the UK and Continental lending fair support.
Similarly, orthodox and dust showed good demand, with the Middle East and CIS being the mainstay of the market for the former and the latter getting good support from major blenders, Tata Tea and Western India.
