Additional departure terminal opened at CIAL
Nedumbassery, Kerala, Oct 29 (UNI) An additional departure terminal was opened at the International Airport here today.
The new terminal, on an area of two lakh sq ft, would ease passenger movement as it would house more check-in-counters, 36 immigration counters and additional area for security check, Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) Managing Director C G Krishnadas Nair said.
Passenger lifts with capacity to carry 20 passengers and escalators have been provided for the convenience of the passengers.
On the first floor of departure area, five boarding gates with separate seating arrangements were provided with aerobridge connections for four gates.
The Duty Free Shop, which will promote ethnic Indian and Kerala products, has an area of 5000 sq ft. There were additional facilities like food courts, internet browsing facility and prayer rooms.
Work on executive lounges and roof top gardens would be completed in 2009 and the final inauguration would be made by the middle of next year, Mr Nair said.
He said CIAL aimed at 'Total Passenger and User Satisfaction' and the employees were committed towards achieving that goal.
