MSEDC announces concession in safe deposit amount to farmers

Kolhapur, Oct 28 (UNI) The Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company (MSEDC) has announced concession in safe deposit amount to farmers using electricity-run pumps in their agricultural fields.

Talking to reporters here today, Maharashtra State Electricity Consumer Sanghatana general secretary Pratap Hogade said now the company will calculate the safe deposit amount as per government mentioned concessional rate. It will deduct the surplus interest and delayed charges from the bills.

The safe deposit amount charged by the company as per earlier rate will be adjusted in the first bill after April 2009, he said.

Earlier, the company charged safe deposit amount as per the rate fixed by State Electricity Regulatory Commission. It was showing the amount after calculating the interest and delayed payment, if any.

The company declared the concession after the Sanghtana pressed for it, he added.
