Mehbooba Mufti says PDP will take part in J-K assembly elections
Srinagar, Oct 28 : The Peoples' Democratic Party (PDP) on Tuesday announced its decision to participate in the upcoming assembly election in Jammu and Kashmir.
Addressing a press conference in Srinagar, the party President Mehebooba Mufti said that though her party was in favour of holding elections in a more conducive atmosphere, but staying out of elections would not be proper.
Mufti said the PDP fears that some elements who are bent upon grabbing power may manipulate the elections.
The party also released its election manifesto on the occasion.
She also ruled out any alliance with any political party during the assembly elections.
Elections to the 87 member state assembly are scheduled to be held from November 17 in seven phases.
