Govt schools remain closed as teachers' strike continues
Hyderabad, Oct 28 (UNI) Government schools in Andhra Pradesh remained closed today as the state-wide strike, called by the Joint Action Committee of Teachers' Organisations (JACTO), entered its seventh day.
JACTO leaders said here they would intensify their agitation to press their demands, as the talks with the Government representatives failed last night.
The teachers organised dharnas in front of all Mandal Revenue Offices in the State. They also conducted rallies all over the state, carrying empty mud saucers without lamps, as about lakh teachers had decided not to celebrate 'Diwali'.
The teachers wore black-badges to show their resentment against the Government's lethargic attitude towards their demands, including unified service rules and promotions to teachers.
