Fire in oil refinery, stocks worth Rs two crore gutted
Kakinada, Oct 28 (UNI) In a major fire that broke out in an edible oil refinery in Vakalapudi on the city outskirts last night, entire packaging unit was gutted and refined edible oil stocks worth over Rs two crore were destroyed.
Police said eight fire-tenders from Kakinada, Jagannaickpur and Pithapuram and units of GFCL and NFCL took about ten hours to extinguish the flames.
The Kakinada Rural Circle Inspector K Murthy told UNI that there was no loss of life and the cause of fire was being investigated into.
However, the refinery management had not lodged any complaint about the accident to the police till today evening, police added.
