Dubai beach sex couple may face longer jail term
London, Oct 28 : A British couple convicted of having sex on Dubai's Jumeirah Beach may be jailed for a longer term, with prosecutors filing an appeal against their sentence.
The Court of First Instance had sentenced Michelle Palmer and Vince Acors to a three-month term in jail, fined 1,000 dirhams, and issued with deportation orders earlier this month.
However, according to their attorney Hassan Matter, the prosecutors have lodged an appeal against the sentence, saying it was "not enough".
"The Dubai Public Prosecution made an appeal yesterday, they say the three months is not enough. They say it should be longer," British tabloid The Sun quoted Matter as saying.
"It means the judge will now have to decide whether to increase their sentences," he added.
