7 miscreants arrested, arms recovered in Malda

Malda, Oct 28: Police on Tuesday, Oct 28 arrested seven miscreants from Manik Chowk area of Niyamatpur under Englishbazar police station in this district and seized arms and ammunition from their possession.

Superintendent of Police Satyajit Banerjee said the youths, aged between 20 and 25 years, and riding three motorbikes, had assembled at Manik Chowk area with the intention of looting a passenger bus of the Chanchal-Kolkata route.

Acting on a tip-off, a police team arrived on the spot and arrested the miscreants.

Three motorbikes, five mobile phones, two revolvers and four rounds of ammunition were seized from their possession, the SP added.
