Suspected thief beaten to death in Punjab

Ludhiana, Oct 27 (UNI) A suspected thief was beaten to death by the residents of a locality in the Basti Jodhewal area of the city here this morning.

According to police sources, a few residents of the locality who were taking an early morning walk noticed four youths roaming around in suspicious circustances. When they challenged the youths, two of them managed to flee while the other two were caught and thrashed with sticks by the residents of the locality.

The police rushed to the spot and rescued the two youths and got them admitted in the civil hospital where one of them, identified as Om Parkash sucummbed to his injuries in the evening. The other was still convalsing in the hospital.

The police has registered a case under section 304 of the IPC against unknown persons and are investigating the matter.
