South India celebrates Diwali on Oct 27
Chennai, Oct 27: Festive season is on and entire South India is all set to welcome and celebrate the festival of lights, Diwali on Monday, Oct 27. Unlike in North India the celebration in South marks the occasion of killing of a demon Narakasura by Lord Krishna. People get-up ealy morning before sunrise and it is a custom to have an oil bath on this special day.
Busting of crackers and sweets mark the festival of Diwali. Narakasura was a demon who imprisoned thousands of inhabitants. He used to eat people for his meal. And, finally it was Lord Krishna who killed him and freed the prisoners. In order to celebrate lord Krishna's victory people celebrate Diwali.
