Rupnagar Heritage Fest concludes

Rupnagar, Oct 27 (UNI) The six-day Rupnagar Heritage Festival, concluded with the lively performance by noted Punjabi Singer Babbu Mann at local Nehru Stadium here last night.

Babbu Mann regaled the audience with his popular numbers like 'Pind Pehra Lagda', 'Tim Timaunde Taare', 'Saun Di Jharri', 'Kabbadi', 'Ajj Din Hashar Da', 'Kurri Sahmane Chubare Wali' and 'Kabza Laina Hey'.

Earlier, noted singers Bhupinder Gill and Neelam also gave spirited performance during the programme.

The programme, organised by Rupnagar Cultural and Tourism Society in association with Gillco and IET Bhaddal, concluded with a spectacular display of fireworks.

The programme attracted large crowds and at times police had a tough time in controlling exuberant fans.

Government College , Rupnagar won the overall trophy in the inter-college youth festival organised at Maharaja Ranjit Singh Bagh during the Heritage Festival. BZSFS College Morinda bagged second position while ASBAJS College Bela got the third position.

Hardev Singh of Government College Rupnagar was adjudged best dancer in Bhangra competitions while Satnam Kaur of IET Bhaddal was adjudged best dancer in Gidha competition.

In Bhangra competition Government College Rupnagar was first and Guru Tegh Bahadur Khalsa College Anandpur Sahib second, while in Giddha, ASBAJS College Bela bagged first position followed by BZSFS College Morinda.

In Solo dance Government College Rupnagar bagged first position while IET Bhaddal was second position.

Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioner has thanked the people for their cooperation in making the Heritage Festival a success.
