Economic Survey 2008-09 to include cross-border trade

Srinagar, Oct 27 (UNI) The Economic Survey of 2008-09 in the state will include cross-border trade between Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan Occupied Kashmir (PoK).

An official spokesman said a high level meeting for the preparation of Pre-budget Economic Survey 2008-09 was held here under the chairmanship of Dr Haseeb Drabu, Economic Advisor to Government of Jammu and Kashmir here today.

Mr B B Vyas, Principal Secretary, Finance and Mr G A Qureshi, Director General, Economics and Statistics were also present.

The meeting decided that Economic Survey 2008-09 of J and K State, in addition to the routine subjects, will address the issues and concerns, including cross-border trade, poverty analysis, employment policies, 13th Finance Commission-Recommendations, resource utilization olicies of the State and human resource development.

Mr Qureshi was nominated as the Nodal Officer for publication of Economic Survey 2008-09.

He said all the Administrative Secretaries of the State Government were requested to furnish latest updates on the departmental activities and development profile to the Directorate of Economic and Statistics by the end of November, 2008.
