Adilabad, Oct 27: The curfew imposed in Bhainsa town in Adilabad district, following communal clashes during an immersion procession on October 10, was partially lifted on Monday, Oct 27.

According to police, the curfew was relaxed from 6 am to 9 pm as the situation was under control and no fresh violence was reported during the relaxation period.

The authorities would lift the curfew totally in a few days, depending on the situation, police reiterated.

Units of the Rapid Action Force (RAF) and local police continued to be deployed in strength in the narrow lanes and bylanes to maintain peace in the riot-torn town, police said.

The police remanded all the nine accused in the Vottoli incident, in which six members of a family, belonging to a minority community, were burnt alive on October 12.

As many as 30 cases were booked under different sections of the law. Over 249 people, identified as accused, had been taken into custody so far in connection with the communal violence in the town.

Three people were killed and 15 others injured when violence broke out in the town during the immersion ceremony.
